In 2000, when I was visiting my friends Nic and Tina in London, they had a book on the bed shelf called "Annapurna". Out of curiosity I flicked through some pages and before I know it, I had finished the book. Since then I had a certain idea of what the Annapurna circuit trek would be like and had put it on my "to visit" list.
Some 8 years later, while living in Delhi, I decided to travel to Nepal and do the trek. I stayed ten days in Kathmandu, where I did some photography and reviews on 5-star luxury hotels for a client. Hari, the guest house manager at Happy Home was nice enough to drive me around and assist me. During this time, a general strike was going on and petrol was scarce and taxis were expensive, so Hari recommended that we tour the hotels in the city on a rented motorcycle. So there I was at the back of the two-wheeler with my camera equipment, dodging cars and pedestrians. As a matter of fact it was quite enjoyable compared to Delhi traffic!
The call for the wild was strong, so when Hari offered to be my guide in the Annapurnas I was delighted. Hari and I set off for a beautiful adventure, meeting with landslides, that crumbled into the river, avalanches, friendly trekkers and the ultimate Thorung-la Pass at 5416 meters (17769 feet) in altitude.
I have arranged photo galleries by theme, so now browse through them and let your heart touch the blue skies of the Himalayas...
